Background
CDVCA’s Central Fund provides capital to and with the Community Development Venture Capital Industry to promote and strengthen the industry and to create strong financial returns for the organization. The Central Fund is both a fund of funds, which makes investments in CDVCA member funds, and a co-investment fund, which makes investments directly in businesses alongside other funds.

Social Mission
The mission of CDVCA’s Central Fund is to support and strengthen the CDVC industry by providing capital to CDVC funds with significant potential to produce superior financial and social returns, and by providing co-investment capital to augment the financial resources available to CDVC portfolio companies with this same potential. CDVCA seeks to create significant numbers of good quality, entry-level jobs through its investment activities, along with wealth and entrepreneurial capacity in underinvested areas of the nation. It measures its social returns rigorously using the Measuring Impact Toolkit, which CDVCA developed in conjunction with leading funds in the industry.

Investment Information
The Central Fund makes fund of funds investments only in CDVCA member funds with a primary mission of community development. Our direct business investments are made only as co-investments with other funds. We have made more than $1.6 million of fund of funds investments in five CDVC funds and more than $1.3 million of co-investments in four portfolio companies in six rounds. Our minimum investment size is $250,000 and we invest throughout the United States.
